You’re sitting in the waiting room at the doctors office. You’ve past the point of comfortable waiting, and are wearing out the edge of your seat. Peoples names are called, faces come and go as your curiosity and confusion grow. You feel assuredly that there are empty rooms with doctors waiting, yet here you are still.
As you feel you approach the edge of your rope, you here your name called. You slightly forget the eternity you felt you waited and walk down the hall.
Sometimes we feel like we’re in a waiting room, and that we’re seeing people come & seemingly taking our opportunities. The reality is there is a specific moment made for us, a doctor who knows our history and can best serve us into thriving. A door that we have to wait longer than expected, but rewards greater than imagined.
If we were to ‘jump the gun’, speed up our waiting and go see a different doctor, we’d probably get the answers we are looking for, but we might not gain the full perspective that sets us up for success - in short or long term.
Waiting feels unproductive, and even against our nature.
A mix of feeling impatient (and not enjoying that), of missing out (not enjoying that) and of being in the wrong place at the wrong time (the feeling of not belonging is the worst!)
The beauty that waiting can become, is a reminder and retainer for finding our peace of mind and heart. Reminding us to think through the lens of rest and stay level headed.
If we allow it, waiting can be the fuel that propels is through the greatness we can experience in our opportunities, stepping into full potential, and expanding possibility.
